First Modular Apartment Building Unveiled In New York City

In September, a 28-unit rental building in northern Manhattan is expected to be completed. The project, named "The Stack," will cost around $13 million dollars.

In 2008, developers Jeffrey Brown and Kim Frank purchased the site.

“We were determined to put up a good building,” said Brown in an interview with Real Estate Weekly. “It’s been an investment of a lot of time and a lot of thought and imagination, some trial and error, and all the things that come with doing something new and doing it first and being a pioneer."

Housing Market Not Concerned About Rising Mortgage Rates

The pre-fab steel and concrete modules have been hoisted on top of one another in order to create the modular look.
