A special section in the New York Daily News describes how the 40 fabulous blocks of Broadway in the Bronx are already a shopping, dining and entertainment destination with much to offer from exceptional restaurants to great shopping to the entertainment of Van Cortlandt Park — our Broadway in the Bronx treasure.
The corridor, however, has the potential to be so much more. Our elected officials released the North Riverdale Merchants Association’s Smart Growth Plan, a study with numerous recommendations for the Kingsbridge/Broadway corridor, which will include recommendations for the Northern portion of Broadway in the Bronx, running along Broadway between West 230th Street and West 238th Street. This well-known commercial corridor has seen two new retail shopping centers open at each end in recent months, and is slated for more retail, commercial and residential development in the near future. Given this activity, this group sought to identify issues affecting the corridor and put forth recommendations, which they believe will help maintain the area’s status as a vibrant, active and relevant shopping corridor for both local residents and those beyond. Those recommendations include a renewed focus on graffiti removal, standardized street furniture and sanitation receptacles, increased lighting and the creation of new parks and public interaction spaces, among others.
Below are thoughts from each of the elected officials involved on how to create an even brighter future for Broadway in the Bronx. For Full Article #NY, #Real, #Estate, #Bronx
