New York City Isn't The Most Expensive Place to Live in the United States

A new study by Citizens Budget Commission (CBC) found that New York City is among the cheapest big cities to live in America.

How is that possible? Well, the relatively low cost of transportation and high incomes.

“This report highlights the extraordinary value and importance of public transit in New York City,” said Charles Brecher, CBC’s Consulting Research Director“It’s the MTA that makes New York City more affordable, and New Yorkers should recognize the importance of adequately maintaining and funding our public transit system.ˮ

For large cities, New York is the third most affordable, behind Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, California.
